The Book of Ecclesiastes is one of the wisdom literatures of the Old Testament books. This book offers a realistic perspective of life from experience of a self indulging individual who seem to have enjoyed and endured life. His experience of it is one that defines life as vain and pointless leaving the reader in a state of finding hope outside what life presents. This hopelessness gives opportunity for the revelation and relevance of Jesus Christ as a figure of hope; which is what this episode presents to us.
