This is a video showing what the user interface looks like on the Patchwork client application. Scuttlebutt is the peer-to-peer protocol used to communicate directly between the clients (no central social media server). I recommend new users to Scuttlebutt start out with the Patchwork application for Linux, Mac or Windows as it is the easiest to use. The Manyverse mobile app for iOS and Android is another good option, and Planetary Social for iOS only.
CORRECTION: The use of markdown to include a preview of a remote image was a BUG that has been corrected. So only less than 10MB size images or docs can be attached as blobs (images attached will preview). Due to the nature of such a network users do not want their client's reaching out over the Internet to display remote images as it leaks information about the user. But despite this Scuttlebutt does upload and show images vs Aether which will only do so if you have linked to the two white listed sites (it has no means of attaching images to a post).
