The OWL is an important experiment for esports. The league is trying to take the traditional sports city-based franchise model and apply it to esports. The goal was to have teams play in their home cities by 2020. Today, we got the next step in that plan.

While they aren't moving to a true home and away set up, the OWL will be hosting a variety of Homestand Weekends in each city. There will be two held at once and half the league will be playing in these new locations each week. The goal is to determine the market demand for the OWL in each city.
