The missionary would encourage and work to help the weaker to build businesses, to own property, and become self-sustaining. The crusaders would discourage this for the natives and destroy what they have.

When the Christian goes to bring the gospel, he is willing to sacrificed to bless the people. The fake Christian goes somewhere to bring the gospel he will sacrifice everyone to enrich himself and build up institution or nation. Jesus, disciples, and Paul as examples.

We develop our skills, character, and talents to bless other and serve others, instead of limiting others and only taking. We build up and establish others. 

Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
