Kalen Whittingslow is my sister and the GM of Author's Kitchen & Bar in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin which is owned by her husband Matias Whittingslow and his partner Josh Sickler. The restaurant has been open for 7 years and has received high praise, being listed in the top 50 restaurants in the state of Wisconsin, currently serving only brunch and lunch with occasional dinner nights and special events.Owning and operating the front of house, Kalen dives deep into the history of Authors from it's conception, to the local products used in their immaculate menu, to the amazing wine list that she curates her wine-snob-self. Balancing the life of being mother to three kids, managing the restaurant, and doing all of the front-of-house back-end work as well as social media tasks, Kalen's plate is as full as her heart, intertwining and curating beautiful community and cultural experiences for the Appleton and Fox Cities area.
