I was paying for something I wasn't using.

Do you check your credit card statements?

Ever since I stopped getting paper statements, I’ve hardly looked at them at all.

    That’s dangerous!

So maybe what happened was partly my own fault, but I discovered that someone I didn’t know had been using my credit card.

In this episode, I talk about what happened.

Please be careful and check your statements, too.

My Thoughts on Nichiten

TBS Radio’s Azumi Shinichiro no Nichiyo Tengoku, affectionately known as Nichiten, always gives me a chance to enjoy a good laugh each week. I’m very happy to have that time to look forward to every week.

People say that your state of mind can affect your health. When my panic disorder returned and I was going through a difficult time, listening to Nichiten and laughing out loud somehow helped me feel calm.

In this episode, I talk about what I love about Nichiten and what the program means to me, all from my own point of view.

The episode begins in Japanese, followed by an English version. Please listen to whichever you prefer—or both. Thank you for stopping by!

  • Keigo Higashino, Fireworks, and Life Lately |

My favorite author, Keigo Higashino, has passed away. I truly believed he would write many more wonderful novels, so this news broke my heart. Even so, I still have more than twenty books left to read out of his 106 published works, and I plan to savor each one. I've also listened to the English Audible editions of The Devotion of Suspect X and Shinzanmono. As I remember Keigo Higashino, I'm also fascinated by seeing how his beautiful writing has been translated into English. His stories continue to inspire me, both as a reader and as an English learner. For me, the world he created will live on forever.

  • Oyoneco

The Unwanted Guest Returns

[The Unwanted Guest Has Come Back]

Recently, that familiar restless feeling returned.

The kind that sometimes comes before a panic attack.

Even at 70, I still find myself pacing around, wondering whether to take medication, and searching for ways to distract myself.

In this episode, I talk about a recent conversation with my doctor and how a song by Fujii Kaze unexpectedly helped me through a difficult moment.

    Just one person's experience.

    Maybe you'll relate to it.

Maybe you'll simply get a glimpse into what panic disorder can feel like.

Maybe Someday

In this episode, I share the story of why my family hardly ever took trips together.

The reason? My mother was deeply into Kyusei Kigaku, a traditional Japanese fortune-telling system based on directions, compatibility, lucky directions, and unlucky ones.

So family trip planning often went something like this:

“That direction is bad for you.”
“That one is unlucky for Dad.”
    “No, that’s bad for me.”

And just like that… no trip. 😂

But this isn’t a story about blaming anyone.

It’s a warm and honest look back at family dynamics, my parents’ struggles, and the unexpected ways childhood beliefs can stay with us.

    A little funny.
    A little wistful.

And maybe a reminder that while fortune telling can be interesting, I’d still rather keep my own hands on the steering wheel of life.

Following Kaze’s Footsteps… Sort Of 😄

A little story from my Fujii Kaze pilgrimage trip to Satosho ☕💕

I thought a pilgrimage meant visiting meaningful places and enjoying the atmosphere…

Apparently, Kaze pilgrimage culture can be much more specific than that 😂

    Featuring:
me (who barely remembered the music video),
my husband (who isn’t even a fan 😆),
    and a very patient driver.

Also: a few personal thoughts on It’s Alright 😌

Okayama -Wondering&Art Moments

I took a journey through Okayama, combining a personal pilgrimage and an art experience.

From a small town filled with warmth, to the unique atmosphere of Naoshima and Teshima,
this trip became more than sightseeing — it turned into a quiet, inner journey.

Even in the rain, the art, the people, and unexpected moments made it truly special.

This time, I wandered through Okayama —
a mix of pilgrimage, art, and unexpected moments.

It wasn’t perfect (lots of rain!),
but somehow, that made the experience even more meaningful.

A gentle, personal story from my journey.

Why I Can Still Move Forward

I tend to get discouraged easily and blame myself for small things. In this episode, I talk about how I’ve been able to keep moving forward anyway. Have you ever found yourself thinking,
“Why am I like this?” after a small conversation or mistake?

Recently, something similar happened to me during an English-related conversation, and it made me reflect on something important—what’s really happening inside me.

I realized that it’s not just about what happens outside, but about how I talk to myself.

There are two “voices” that help me: Fujii Kaze and Naruse Akari. One helps me think clearly, and the other gently reminds me that I’m okay as I am.

Because of them, I still get discouraged sometimes…

but I don’t stay there as long. Maybe the real struggle
is not outside of us, but within us.

Around the age of ninety, both of my parents started saying something strange.

    “Severed heads.”

At first I had no idea what they were talking about.
Later I learned that experiences like this may sometimes be related to a type of dementia called Lewy body dementia.

This episode is a small and slightly mysterious story from my family.

After the Japanese version, I also tell the same story in English.
