I understand when people sometimes say that "your job title is not important". . .
But on this one, it was important to me, and I wasn't going to let it slide.
Let me tell you about when I got promoted and didn't feel good about the new title and how I changed it.
You see, I had not only gotten a promotion, I had gotten a significant raise too, but I was unhappy about the whole thing.
I couldn't celebrate or even bring myself to respond to the email with excitement, which felt terrible.
It's a long story.
But later that week, I visited a friend, and we talked about it.
Long story short, I summoned the courage to share my concerns with my boss and request a change in my new job title, and the following day, I got a new promotion letter reflecting my new job title.
You can imagine the excitement I felt when I got my new letter.
It's quite the story, so I recorded this episode with the full gist.
Please listen, and let's talk about it.
If this were you, what would you have done differently? And why?
