Summary:  Ozempic usage recently skyrocketed due in part to high-profile people using it for the off-label use of weight loss, and due in part to social media picking up on this.  Is this the magic injection people have been looking for to lose weight?  The positive actions of this drug, which mimics a hormone, are discussed along with some of the possible adverse reactions.  In the course of this discussion, the idea of this being a “magic medication” revolves around who is using it and why.  A brief look at the off-label use of other drugs is discussed, revealing the on-going need for Risk-Benefit analysis and continued monitoring of both on and off-label therapy,  by both the patient and the healthcare professional.
