When does supporting an F1 driver cross the line? Motorsport content creator and comedian James Coker joins Elle on Paddock43 for an honestāand often ridiculousāconversation about F1 fandom, life as a creator, and why he stepped away from the WTF1 podcast.
James opens up about the cumulative impact of toxic comments and DMs, why chasing controversy wasnāt worth the toll on his mental health, and how making jokes about the paddock changes once you know the people in it. We discuss parasocial relationships, the boundaries between fans and drivers, and whether drivers and creators should do more to call out online abuse.
Then thereās the question of Oscar Piastriās burger curse.
We debate whether McLaren favoured Lando Norris during last seasonās title fight, revisit Oscarās momentum, and get distracted by Elleās passionate defence of his Grillād burger. James is trying to explain the curse. Elle is apparently trying to sell him lunch.
With Austin approaching, we also talk Kimi Antonelliās remarkable season, George Russellās fortunes, and our predictions for the United States Grand Prix. James takes us back to the chaotic 1984 Dallas Grand Prix before we look ahead to the next chapter of F1 in Texas.
Plus: Austin versus Miami, grandstands versus hospitality, an FIA hat encounter involving Lando Norrisās dad, and why James isnāt interested in spending Christmas with Toto Wolff.
IN THIS EPISODE:
⢠Why James stepped away from the WTF1 podcast
⢠F1 fan behaviour, online abuse and parasocial relationships
⢠The balance between humour, honesty and paddock access
⢠Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris and the McLaren favouritism debate
⢠The Oscar Piastri Grillād burger curse
⢠Kimi Antonelli and the championship conversation
⢠Austin predictions and the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix
⢠Why the 2026 season has felt so disjointed
Where do you draw the line between passionate support and going too far? And whoās on your Austin podium? Tell us in the commentsākeep it respectful.

LONG YOUTUBE DESCRIPTION
Fresh back from the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, and I have thoughts. Max Verstappen finally won at Marina Bay, I think Lewis Hamilton got his Ferrari strategy gamble wrong, and McLarenās Sprint collision was completely unnecessary. Kim Kardashian, though? Brilliant PR weekend.
This week on Paddock 43, Iām unpacking the Singapore GP from both sides: being there in person, then coming home and catching up on everything happening around the race.
It was my first trip to Singapore, and I wanted to experience the event as a fan. Iām sharing how our Zone 1 Walkabout ticket worked, what approximately A$1,500 got us, the grandstand views, watching qualifying from the Singapore Flyer despite my Ferris wheel phobia, and getting absolutely drenched on the way to Sprint qualifying. Plus, where we watched Sundayās race, late-night hawker food and why Iād recommend a hotel with a pool.
On track, Max delivered both poles and both wins. George Russellās Sprint crash happened right in front of us. Lewis stayed out after missing the pit entry under the Virtual Safety Car, and Iām getting into why I think he got the gamble wrongāas well as the communication between him and Ferrari.
Then thereās Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. A gap doesnāt automatically make a move worth attempting, especially against your teammate on the final lap. Iām talking about the collision, the lost points and Landoās initial response versus his later apology.
Off track, Kim Kardashian addressed the awkward Martin Brundle moment and joked with Kimi Antonelli about the towel incident. I thought she handled both really well.
Also in this episode:
⢠Formula 1ās announced return to Africa with a Rwanda Grand Prix agreement.
⢠Why the timing is early 2030s, what we know about the proposed circuit and questions about access for local fans.
⢠The proposed V8 engine return, turbocharging, hybrid power and why we shouldnāt expect a straight replay of the 2013 soundtrack.
⢠Christian Hornerās Guardian interview and my reaction to his account of his dismissal.
Do you agree with me on Lewisās gamble? And was Landoās Sprint move worth the risk?
Subscribe to Paddock 43 for Formula 1 news, race reactions, fan experiences and my take on whatās happening on and off the grid.

LONG PODCAST DESCRIPTION
Iām back from my first Singapore Grand Prix, slightly exhausted and with plenty to talk about. Max finally got his Singapore win, Lewis got the strategy gamble wrong in my opinion, and McLaren gave us another teammate collision we really didnāt need.
But first, the fan experience. I wanted to see Singapore properly, so we went with a Zone 1 Walkabout ticket, got drenched heading to Sprint qualifying, watched qualifying from the Singapore Flyer and finished Sunday near pit exit for Maxās win and the fireworks. Iām sharing what our ticket included, what we paid and what Iād recommend if youāre thinking of going.
Then itās into the racing: Maxās weekend sweep, seeing Georgeās Sprint crash in front of us, Lewis and Ferrariās communication, and why I thought Landoās move on Oscar was unnecessary. No further action from the stewards doesnāt mean McLaren should be happy about it.
Kim Kardashian also had her redemption arc with Martin Brundle and Kimi Antonelli. Credit where credit is dueāI thought it was a brilliant PR move.
Plus, Formula Oneās return to Africa, the Rwanda circuit plans, the proposed V8 comeback and why āV8ā doesnāt mean weāre getting the old naturally aspirated engines back. Iām also giving my reaction to Christian Hornerās Guardian interview.
Let me know where you land on Lewisās decision, the McLaren collision and the V8 hype.
Paddock 43 with Elle Baillieu.

Back from Singapore, and I think Lewis got the gamble wrong, McLarenās collision was unnecessary, and Kim Kardashian handled her PR brilliantly. Plus: Maxās first Singapore win, my Zone 1 Walkabout experience, F1ās return to Africa and what the V8 comeback actually means.

Drivers pressing the accelerator. Cars barely moving. An entire Grand Prix waiting on a software fix. What actually happened in Malaysia?
F1 journalist and published author Luke Smith joins Elle on Paddock 43 to unpack the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. With more than a decade covering Formula 1, Luke writes for The Athletic, part of The New York Times, and is the author of On the Grid. He was on the ground at Sepangāand takes us inside the confusion, frustration and information gaps as the start unravelled.
We break down the software failure in plain English, how the 2026 power-unit regulations contributed, why testing missed it, and what the FIAās rapid fix doesāand doesnātāresolve.
Plus:
⢠What journalists and teams knew during the delay
⢠The driversā reactions and the mood in the paddock
⢠Whether the 2027 and 2028 changes address F1ās underlying complexity
⢠Confidence in the fix heading into Singapore
⢠Lukeās tips for enjoying the Singapore Grand Prix as Elle prepares to head over
⢠The Qatar and Abu Dhabi calendar situation as understood at the time of recording

George Russell deserves his flowers for Baku. Max made him work for the win, Isack Hadjar returned with a podium, and Oscar Piastriās race unravelled at Turn 1. But I donāt think you need another lap-by-lap recap from me.
This week, Iām getting into Franco Colapintoās crash with Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris. Was a five-place grid drop really enough, and why were there no penalty points for that collision? Then thereās what happened online afterwards: the abuse, the threats, and how invested some F1 fans have become in drivers they donāt actually know.
Iām also talking Esteban Oconās future at Haas, Hadjarās 2027 Red Bull deal, and my take on the Australian Grand Prix ticket backlash. Yes, the Brabham membership is expensive. No, you do not need a membership to go to the race.
And for my green flag: Jamie Chadwick finally driving a Williams F1 car, why I initially questioned the choice, and why I changed my mind.
Tell me what you think Francoās penalty should have been ā and whether the F1 fandom is getting a little too intense.

Andy Harriss has run track safety on the F1 movie, Top Gear, Mission Impossible, No Time To Die, Napoleon and more, and worked directly with Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton along the way.
In this episode we go deep on what it actually takes to keep an F1 set, a live street show, or a Top Gear stunt safe when everything is moving at 200mph. Andy tells the story of Vettel covering for an absent Hamilton on live TV, being overtaken by Lando Norris on an ice lake in Norway, briefing Verstappen one on one before a stunt, and the moment Michael Schumacher was unmasked as The Stig.
We also get into his honest take on the 2025 F1 season, the McLaren title fight, and his next project: the Isle of Man TT movie, produced by Brad Pitt and starring Channing Tatum.

Kimi Antonelli has won Formula Oneās first race at the Madringābut should it have been Lando Norrisās victory?
Kimi now has an incredible eight wins from his first 38 F1 starts, surpassing George Russellās seven wins. But after producing one of the best qualifying laps of his career, Lando controlled the Spanish Grand Prix until a badly timed Virtual Safety Car and a seven-second pit stop changed everything.
In this episode of Paddock 43, Elle breaks down:
⢠Why Landoās Madrid pole lap was so impressive
⢠How the Virtual Safety Car handed Kimi the advantage
⢠Why overtaking was almost impossible at the Madring
⢠The 46 deleted lap times during FP2
⢠Lance Strollās disastrous 2026 season
⢠Whether the circuit was genuinely ready
⢠The reported theft of 300 metres of electrical cable
⢠Fernando Alonsoās uncertain Aston Martin future
⢠The latest information surrounding the 2027 F1 calendar
⢠Wimbledon, influencers and who deserves access to major sporting events
Plus, Elle shares a personal update about working with GM, off-roading in Tasmania and booking a trip to the Singapore Grand Prix.
Do you think Lando deserved to win? And does the Madring need major changes before Formula One returns?

The 2026 Italian Grand Prix gave us one of the wildest weekends of the F1 season, with Kimi Antonelli charging from P19 to win his home Grand Prix at Monza and becoming the first Italian driver to win the Italian GP in 60 years.
Elle is solo this week to unpack everything that happened at the Temple of Speed: Pierre Gasly's incredible maiden pole for Alpine, how the Monza tow actually works, Charles Leclerc's huge Parabolica crash and the eerie similarities to 2020, Mercedes' strategy and the battle between Kimi and George Russell, Max Verstappen's return to the podium and McLaren's difficult weekend.
Plus, Sebastian Vettel gets behind the wheel of Michael Schumacher's Ferrari, Lando Norris becomes a team boss with LN4 Fusion, Aston Martin has a weekend to forget, and we look at what Monza means for the 2026 F1 World Championship.
Eat pasta. Drive fasta. Welcome to Monza.

This week, Elle is joined by two legends from very different corners of Formula 1: F1 commentator Cameron Van Den Dungen and FIA Formula 1 Medical Car driver and former Supercars driver Karl Reindler.
Cam and Karl are also long-time friends, former neighbours and former radio co-hosts, so this episode quickly turns into story time. We hear how Cam went from racing to calling Formula 1 and working on the pilot of Drive to Survive, while Karl shares stories from his career and life inside the F1 paddock.
We get their honest opinions on the season, sprint races, Oscar Piastriās future, Daniel Ricciardoās decision to leave Red Bull, Liam Lawson, Max Verstappen, George Russell, Lance Stroll and whether Formula 1 is losing the integrity of the racing while trying to entertain a new audience.
We also have an important conversation about women in motorsport, why so many talented girls leave during the transition from karting to cars and why it has been far too long since Formula 1 had a female driver.
Then itās game time: Cam and Karl go head-to-head to discover who really knows their F1 drivers better.
