Ramon Laureano grounded out with the tying run at 3rd base in the 9th inning, Eugenio Suarez hit his 2nd 3-run home run in as many days, the Seattle bullpen made the 4 runs they scored in 4 innings off Yu Darvish stand up, and the result was a 4-3 M’s win that gives them a 2-1 series win and keeps the Pads in 2nd place behind the Dodgers heading into the weekend.

 

The Padres once in the 9th to get to Laureano, who hit 2nd in the lineup today. Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled in Jake Cronenworth, who had just doubled.

 

The Pads scored twice in the 6th to cut the lead to 4-2. Gavin Sheets singled in Ramon Laureano, and Jake Cronenworth was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

 

Darvish (3-4) gave up 4 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1. He has been inconsistent since coming off the injured list in July, posting one terrific start followed by a terrible start.

 

The Padres’ bullpen- Alek Jacob, Wandy Peralta, David Morgan and Yuki Matsui- worked 4 scoreless innings. Wandy escaped a bases-loaded jam in the 6th inning.

 

Gavin Sheets went 2-3 with the RBI to lead the Padres. Fernando had 2 hits and the RBI.

The Padres head to Minnesota to face the Twins in a 3-game weekend series starting g Friday, with 1st pitch set for 5:10pm PT.
