John 21:20–23 (NIV)
Today’s verse is one of the most mysterious and talked about in the entire New Testament. Why? Because it sparks a question people still ask to this day:
Is it possible the Apostle John never died?
Let’s break this down.
Jesus had just restored Peter after his denial. Then Peter notices someone behind them—“the disciple whom Jesus loved,” traditionally believed to be John.
Peter asks Jesus, “What about him?”
“If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
