What does Gethsemane mean for your life?

1. In our darkest hour, remember that God understands what you are going through.

2. In our darkest hour, know that God loves you.

Small Group Discussion Questions: Read Mark 14:32-42

1. Why do you think Jesus shared His feelings with His disciples?

2. What do we learn about how to pray in your darkest hour?

3. Share one instance where you saw God’s hand at work despite the difficulty facing you.

4. Read the following quote and discuss what the author means “then he wakes with Christ in Gethsemane”?

“When a man really gives up trying to make something out of himself—a saint, or a converted sinner, or a churchman (a so-called clerical somebody), a righteous or unrighteous man,… when in the fullness of tasks, questions, success or ill-hap, experiences and perplexities, a man throws himself into the arms of God… then he wakes with Christ in Gethsemane. That is faith, that is metanoia and it is thus that he becomes a man and Christian.”

— Dietrich Bonhoeffer
