When we place our hope in the world (in others, in our jobs, in our circumstances), we end up disappointed.  Ps. Scott Lasher invites us to consider that following God is not about simple happiness or the fulfillment of our own goals.  Jesus didn't come to fulfill our expectations; he came to exceed them.
