Palm Sunday - Luke 19 - (3/29/2026)

Listen Later

This powerful reflection on Palm Sunday invites us to look beyond the celebration and examine what it truly means to welcome Jesus as King. Drawing from Luke 19, we discover four profound ways to welcome Christ into our lives: with obedience, with gifts, with praise, and with faith. The disciples didn't just cheer for Jesus—they obeyed His specific instructions without question, even when it meant fetching a donkey instead of preparing for military conquest. The crowd gave costly gifts, laying down their valuable cloaks and palm branches as a red carpet for their King. Their spontaneous praise was so genuine that Jesus declared even the stones would cry out if they stayed silent. Yet the most moving moment comes when Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, revealing a King whose heart breaks for those who reject Him. This isn't the warrior Messiah riding a warhorse that many expected—this is the Prince of Peace on a humble donkey, coming not with aggression but with compassion. The question for us today is whether we're welcoming Jesus on our terms or His. Are we looking for a King who fits our script, or are we ready to embrace the Savior who came to conquer our hearts rather than our enemies? His tears remind us that our response matters deeply to Him, and His invitation to peace and eternal life still stands. This sermon was first preached by Pastor Glen Hossler at Springfield Church of God on March 29th, 2026.
