Life is often about trying to make the best deal for ourselves. God, also, is in the business of making deals. At the Last Supper, God makes an incredible deal with the disciples, one too good to believe. "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:28). God has entered into covenants with His people throughout scripture. The Old Covenant said to obey God and we will be blessed, or disobey God and we will be cursed and die. The New Covenant, however, says Jesus will obey God, and we will be blessed and live.
