Potter Palmer built Chicago's most opulent hotel as a wedding gift to his young bride Bertha. The first incarnation burned in the Chicago fire of 1871, but was rebuilt bigger and more luxurious. The Palmer House has had it's share of celebrations and it's share of tragedies.
