Palpatine tells Dooku to fake his fight with Anakin Skywalker, and that if Anakin somehow wins, he'll save his apprentice from death...which of course in Revenge of the Sith, he didn't. Palpatine is surely a jerk to Dooku! Would you expect anything less?
