A hot take, according to Google, is "a piece of commentary, typically produced quickly in response to a recent event, whose primary purpose is to attract attention."  This is not one of those! This is Eric and Kevin after three years of processing a calamity giving their (hopefully) thought out reflections on an event where the history is still being written.  So it is a cold(ish) take.
