Paparazzi Piano: Capturing Lessons on Mobile Devices and 'Sharenting'

Listen Later

Recently, CMajor got the surprise of her life when she discovered that she had been videotaped teaching piano lessons to one of her students.  The owner of the video was a parent who was so proud of his child that he couldn't help but capture the moment with his cellphone.  There it was--CMajor pointing to the page and talking to a student about how to improve his playing of Old MacDonald.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I hadn't realized how much this moment meant to the parent.  So much so, that the footage ended up in an iMovie presentation alongside fun private family moments and memories.  It made me realize how much times have changed with technology.  This wasn't the only time that CMajor noticed that parents wanted a video of their children's piano lessons.  But, I couldn't help but wonder if somehow creating a video of the lessons can also be helpful for students learning the pieces as well.  When the teacher is away and students are stuck, can watching a video of the teacher playing a particular part in the music be helpful?  We'll talk about this and more next time on The CMajor Radio Show.
