In 2015 the average American consumer write about 3.1 checks a month, according the the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.  By 2022 that fell to 1.5 checks a month.   Meanwhile this year, banks and credit unions are expected to file nearly 540,000 suspicious activity reports tied to check fraud.
