Today, both our stories have an orphan and French theme...and we didn't even plan it! We start in France with the story of the Papin sisters. From their tragic childhood, to their final murderous days, you won't believe the horrible events that surrounded their lives. Next we travel to Quebec to learn about the treatment that befell the children born into unfavourable family situations (unwed mothers, poverty, abusive) in the 40s and 50s. Under the leadership of the Premier of the time, Maurice Duplessis, these children were put into metal institutions and abused. Our throwbacks are Perms and the episode of Full House where Stephanie Tanner gets her ears pierced (I know, that's very specific).
