Jesus used a form of storytelling that was both prophetic and timeless. He speaks of an alternate reality in Parables or stories that define the eternal Kingdom of God. It's like an invitation. Jesus isn't forcing the kingdom upon anyone, but by His grace, he offers it to us as a gift.
