- In the parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard, Jesus takes on the human notion that somehow our own labors cause us to earn our way into heaven, rather than His grace. As Jesus tells the story of those who received the same pay for working in the vineyard about 1 hour as those who started first thing in the morning, we all get this funny feeling that somehow the last-minute laborers are getting something they don’t deserve. But, as Jesus tells us, gaining entry into the Kingdom of God isn’t based on our sense of fair play - it is based on His crazy, amazing grace and love for us.
