Jesus takes very seriously what we do with the gifts we have been given, because what we do with them is a reflection of our faith. If a tree doesn't bear fruit, you know the tree is bad. The parable of the talents brings this to a whole new level. God has gifted us all differently, having given more talent to some than others. It truly matters what we do with those talents and gifts. We desire autonomy from God and His plan, but that's not how Jesus sets things up. He expects us to take our unique gifts and work them.
