Paradigms, puzzles, and paradoxes. A minefield of confusion. Is the law and justice system working for or against the people’s safety, for or against the police? What is public safety anyway? How much does it cost us? Let’s talk about it.
When things are not working, do we as individuals, as professionals, community members and persons in positions of power have an obligation to speak up and challenge what’s happening? Absolutely!
We as a nation have an emergent need to re-evaluate what we are doing in the justice system since we are #1 at incarceration in the world. Why are we taking away freedom when we sell it as our highest value? This is upside down. How can we restore honor as a country?
Let’s chat about early childhood traumas and how it affects mental health. Let’s use our “up close and personal experiences” to make corrections as we open our eyes to ugly truths about the system, we rely so heavily on to keep us safe.
How can we face the moral double speak: Violence begets violence, so why do we treat people violently when they are not even convicted? Jails are filled with unconvicted people…why?
Why not question a system that is bankrupting our nation? Why not speak up and stand up for the fearful, those who are at risk for losing their job if they speak out? It is a command-and-control system inside…and it depends on people outside holding the systems accountable. Join us as we analyze our own perceptions, paradoxes, and predicaments.
