Having come to the realization that Jesus was God's messiah, there were other ideas the disciples needed to learn. One was, "What kind of messiah is Jesus"?  Another was, "What does the road Jesus had to take, say about the road we must take"?  It was a difficult prospect to contemplate... that the road taken by Jesus set the tone for the road all his followers must take.  Ouch!
