Bassist Geezer Butler went further in-depth on the song’s meaning in 2013 saying, “Basically, it’s just about depression, because I didn’t really know the difference between depression and paranoia. It’s a drug thing; when you’re smoking a joint you get totally paranoid about people, you can’t relate to people. There’s that crossover between the paranoia you get when you’re smoking dope and the depression afterward.”

Prudent, self disciplined, sound mind, thinking with behavior that fits the circumstances, Thinking ahead, safe minded….

it's understandable to feel cautious or vigilant in today's world, but excessive paranoia can lead to unnecessary stress, anxiety, and isolation.

So lets call this healthy skepticism and awareness or the Four P’s

Practiced

Prepared 

Powerful 

When I drive my cycle I drive paranoid… my motto is everyone out here is trying to kill me… why? Because it keeps me alive! 

Take a few days and read through the chapters of 2 Samual through 1 and 2nd kings… you will see smart leadership and dumb leadership. Some kings served God, they were paranoid going into battle… they would ask the prophet… is God with us? Will we win? Many times the prophet would tell the kings how to practice prepare and exemplify Gods power…. 

Here are some ways to stay informed and safe without succumbing to excessive fear:

1. Stay informed: (a healthy dose of paranoia will help you stay informed) Be aware of current events and trends, but avoid excessive consumption of negative news.

Be aware of the newest ways that they are targeting children and women… 

Tying up a puppy and leaving it out by itself at a street alley or corner…

Women at Walmart being asked to move their cars by employees…

1. Practice critical thinking: Evaluate information from various sources and consider different perspectives.

Have you practiced scenarios with your kids, wife and loved ones…

When someone calls and sounds like your wife or husband and they need you to immediately put a thousand dollars in an account…. Do you have a question you would ask them?
