With a population of only 3,800, this small Appalachian community has had its fair share of notable residents. Football star Fred Wyant, World War I flying Ace Louis Bennett Jr, and even World series of Poker player Jason Koon.
But one resident of Weston stands taller than any other, one who’s past is stained in the blood and sorrow of those who filled its desolate halls. Weston State Hospital, or, more commonly known, as Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
