Parashat Bo: When Your Children Ask…
I have a special episode for you today – second episode this week. This episode is on the topic on parenting based on this week’s Parasha – Parashat Bo. I write a monthly column for The Jewish Herald Voice and I figured I’d share sometimes the pieces that I write there here, for those of you who like audio and/or who don’t live in Houston and don’t get to read my column every month. Although I do publish the link of the column on Jewish Latin Princess’ Facebook Page, whenever it comes out.
I dedicated this column and this episode to my oldest son who turned twelve this week. He was born on Parashat Bo twelve years ago.

She had no interest in the kitchen. In fact, her only job in the kitchen growing up was just to make the salad for Shabbat; a job she didn’t take to very well, for one time she put ½ cp of salt instead of sugar in the salad dressing! Her family jokingly talks about this story till today. And the joke’s on her! Because now, she’s busier than ever in the kitchen and promoting her new cookbook, Millennial Kosher. You’re listening to Jewish Latin Princess, I’m Yael Trusch, Your Host, welcome to the show! You heard that right, I have the sweet Chanie Apfelbaum, creator of Busy in Brooklyn and Author of Millennial Kosher. 
Why does a salad dressing require ½ cup of sugar, anyway? Yeah, Chanie wondered the same thing. And, in part a desire to give her traditional sweet Ashkenazi foods a re-vamp, was what led her to unleash her creativity in the kitchen. She’s a millennial and as such, she’s not taking the status quo as a given, even in her cooking! Chanie mixes international flavors and textures, all to bring something extraordinary and unconventional to our tables. Chanie talks to us about the journey that got her to this point. The unexpected side benefit of becoming a “public figure” in the kosher culinary world. And hey, how does she manage her public and busy life, when her priority is her family? Y hablando de destino, ¿cual es la diferencia entre el destino y el libre albedrío? Bienvenida a Jewish Latin Princess, soy Yael Trusch tu afitriona, muy feliz de estar aquí contigo el día de hoy, con un episodio en español, un tremendo episodio, con una tremenda mujer. Tengo el placer de conversar con la Medico Sexólogo Pscicoterapeuta Schanthal Felsenstein de Mizrahi.
¿¡Una mujer observante con esta profecion!? Suena incompatible, mas no, porque la intimidad es un área que se santifica a través de nuestras enseñanzas. Y tener esta combinación de Torá y herramientas científicas le han permitido a Schanthal trabajar exitosamente con parejas que han lograado superar dificultades que dañaban gravemente el shalom bayit, la paz en el hogar. Por supuesto, hablo con ella sobre sexología, tanto desde el punto de vista médico, como desde el punto de vista de la Tora; y de como llega ella a ese campo y ese nivel de entendimiento.
