You can spend an entire day taking care of your children and still miss the child standing in front of you.
We manage schedules. Check assignments. Correct behavior. Monitor screens. Drive to practices. Prepare meals. Solve problems. Keep everyone moving in the right direction.
Those things matter. But somewhere in all that parenting activity, the relationship can quietly become secondary.
And that matters because as our children grow, our ability to control their choices decreases. Our opportunity to influence them, however, can remain strong when we have built a relationship marked by trust, presence, conversation, and genuine connection.
In this episode of Equipped To Be, I'm joined by author and speaker Israel Wayne for a conversation about what happens when parenting becomes more about downloading information to children than knowing them.
We talk about the difference between control and influence, why parents need to remain present as their children mature, and how strong relationships give parents an opportunity to speak truth into their children's lives long after "because I said so" stops working.
We also discuss why being physically near our children is not the same as being emotionally present, how easily busyness can crowd out meaningful conversation, and what parents can do now to strengthen connection without abandoning authority.
Your child doesn't need a perfect parent.
But he or she does need you to focus on both: the child's formation and the relationship.
If you've been wondering how to stay close to your child while still preparing them to become responsible, independent adults who love the Lord, this conversation will encourage you to look beyond everything you are doing for your child and pay attention to the relationship you are building with your child.
Listen now and consider one important question:
Do I really know the child I'm raising right now? Am I focused on imparting knowledge, while missing the relational aspect of parenting?

What if some of the strongest evidence for the Bible's reliability has been buried beneath our feet for thousands of years?
We are living in a time when almost every foundational belief is being questioned. Scripture is no exception. People ask whether the people were real, whether the places existed, whether the events actually happened, and whether the Bible can be trusted as more than a collection of religious stories.
That is what makes my conversation with Dinesh D'Souza so fascinating.
Dinesh is a bestselling author, filmmaker, and cultural commentator whose newest book, The Stones Cry Out: Biblical Archaeology, Prophecy, and the Last Days, takes him into the world of biblical archaeology.
Instead of beginning only with theology, he asks a factual question: What does the physical evidence tell us?
Archaeological discoveries can take us into the ancient world of Scripture through inscriptions, ruins, pottery, seals, cities, manuscripts, and other artifacts that have survived for centuries.
And that raises an even bigger question.
If archaeology can shed light on what the Bible records about the past, what does that mean for how seriously we take what Scripture says about the present and the future?
In this episode of Equipped To Be, Dinesh and I explore the questions at the heart of The Stones Cry Out, the relationship between faith and evidence, biblical history, Israel, prophecy, and why these discoveries matter to Christians today.
This is not simply a conversation about ancient stones.
It is a conversation about whether the Bible we hold in our hands describes real people, real places, and real history, and why that matters to the way we live now.

If parents don't help their sons develop a vision of manhood, someone else will.
Boys are growing up amid conflicting messages. One voice treats masculinity as a problem; another equates it with dominance, status, and control. What does a Christian parent offer instead?
In this conversation, Connie Albers talks with pastor and author Seth Troutt about his book, Authentic Masculinity: Leaving Behind the Counterfeits for God's Design. Seth offers a biblical picture of manhood rooted in humility, discipline, responsibility, and using strength to honor others. They discuss why parents should begin early, give boys meaningful responsibility, and have a plan for the men they are helping their sons become.
This episode is for mothers and fathers who want to guide their sons with conviction and hope—not fear, shame, or a narrow stereotype of what a man must be.

She didn't do it all. And she certainly didn't do it all in one day.
Yet generations of women have read Proverbs 31 as though God handed them a daily checklist—and many have walked away feeling exhausted, inadequate, or convinced they will never measure up.
But that isn't what the passage says.
Proverbs 31 is not the snapshot of one impossibly productive day. It is the portrait of a woman's life—her character, decisions, relationships, work, wisdom, and faithfulness developed over many years.
Too often, women read this passage as a divine to-do list. They compare her entire lifetime to their hardest season and conclude they are falling short. But God did not give women Proverbs 31 to make them feel exhausted, inadequate, or ashamed.
In this episode, Connie Albers explains what the Bible really says about the Proverbs 31 woman, how misunderstandings of this passage have burdened women, and what it actually means to think like a woman of wisdom and valor.
You'll discover:
• Why Proverbs 31 describes the fruit of a lifetime—not the demands of a single day • How seasons shape a woman's responsibilities and priorities • Why her worth is established before her work is described • The lies women believe about godliness, productivity, marriage, and success • How she thinks about stewardship, opportunity, preparation, relationships, and the future • Practical ways to develop wisdom, discernment, strength, and faithfulness over time
Becoming a Proverbs 31 woman is not about mastering every role, carrying every responsibility, or accomplishing everything at once. It is about allowing God to shape the way you think and faithfully becoming the woman He has called you to be—one decision, one season, and one year at a time.
The Proverbs 31 woman is not a woman who does everything. She is a woman who has learned, over a lifetime, to let wisdom govern everything.

What if one of the most mysterious warnings in the Book of Revelation is connected to the events shaping our world today?
In Revelation 2:13, Jesus speaks of the ancient city of Pergamon as the place "where Satan's throne is." For centuries, the massive Altar of Pergamon lay buried beneath the earth—until it was excavated, removed from its original location, and reconstructed in Berlin. But was it merely an ancient monument, or could its movement reveal a much larger spiritual mystery?
In this gripping conversation, Connie Albers sits down with New York Times bestselling author Rabbi Jonathan Cahn to discuss his newest book, The Altar of Pergamon: The Mystery of the Dark Angel and the Future of the World.
Cahn traces the altar's path through history and explores its possible connection to empires, world leaders, catastrophic events, and the unseen forces operating behind them. Why did Jesus identify Pergamon with Satan's throne? What happened after the altar was moved? Who—or what—is the Dark Angel? And could an ancient mystery offer insight into what is unfolding in our world now?
This conversation moves beyond archaeology and history into the spiritual battle beneath the events we can see. It is mysterious, sobering, and ultimately a reminder that evil does not have the final word—God remains sovereign over history.
Listen with discernment, keep your Bible close, and prepare to see the past—and perhaps the future—from an entirely different perspective.

How Much Freedom Is Your Child Ready For?
When should a child be allowed to stay home alone, walk to a friend's house, ride farther from home, get a phone, or spend more time without a parent nearby?
There isn't one age that works for every child.
In this episode of Equipped To Be, Connie Albers shares a practical framework parents can use when deciding whether a child is ready for greater independence: Range, Readiness, and Responsibility.
You'll learn how to:
Protecting children and preparing them for independence are not opposites. As children grow, wise parenting gradually shifts from making decisions for them to teaching them how to make sound decisions for themselves.
Freedom should grow with demonstrated responsibility. But children also need enough freedom to practice becoming responsible.

What if the work no one notices is still shaping your family in ways you cannot yet see?
Back-to-school has a way of revealing how much invisible work mothers do. The supplies, the schedules, the forms, the meals, the emotions, the prayers, the planning, and the quiet steadying of the home often happen without applause or even much notice.
In this episode, Connie speaks to the mom who is pouring out for her family and knowing most of what she does is unseen. Motherhood is filled with ordinary, faithful work that may not be fully appreciated in the moment, but unseen does not mean unimportant.
With warmth, honesty, and biblical encouragement, Connie reminds moms that their value is not measured by how much their children notice, how often they are thanked, or whether anyone fully understands what they carry. God sees the quiet work. He sees the love behind the details. And He cares about the mother, not just the work she does.
This conversation will help you serve your family faithfully without disappearing in the process. You'll be reminded that good moms show up, but wise moms stay rooted in who they are in Christ.
Faithfulness matters, even when applause is absent.

Parenting can feel like an endless stream of decisions. How do you handle the attitude, the grades, the phone, the friends, the lack of motivation, or the latest conflict?
But underneath all those questions is a bigger one: Who is your child becoming?
In this episode, Connie Albers challenges parents to look beyond managing today's behavior and consider the adult they are preparing for tomorrow. Childhood is not the destination. Our children are learning how to make decisions, handle responsibility, navigate disappointment, develop convictions, and eventually live without us directing every step.
You'll discover why some of the hardest parenting moments can become opportunities to build wisdom, resilience, self-control, courage, compassion, and faith.
Because we aren't simply raising children who know how to follow our rules. We are preparing adults who will need to know how to think, choose, and live wisely on their own.

Life has a way of changing without warning.
One phone call. One diagnosis. One unexpected conversation. Suddenly, the future you imagined looks very different from the one you're living.
How do you keep moving forward when life doesn't go according to plan? More importantly, how do you lead your family when you're walking through uncertainty yourself?
In this episode, Connie shares how unexpected interruptions reveal what we truly believe, why our children are watching more than we realize, and how God often does His deepest work in the seasons we would never choose. Drawing on her own journey through late-stage Lyme disease and the truths found in Scripture, she offers encouragement for anyone facing a difficult chapter.
If your life has been interrupted by circumstances you didn't choose, this conversation will remind you that while your plans may have changed, God's faithfulness has not.

We often hear that the family dinner is disappearing.
Surprisingly, that's not what the latest research shows.
Most families are still finding time to share a meal. The real question is what happens once everyone sits down.
Are phones, busy schedules, and constant distractions quietly replacing conversation? Have family dinners become another place to manage homework, activities, and behavior rather than build relationships?
In this episode, Connie explores what the research reveals about today's family dinner table and why simply eating together isn't enough. She shares practical ways to move beyond checking a box and begin creating meaningful moments of connection, conversation, and belonging.
Because the goal isn't a perfect family dinner.
It's raising children who know they're seen, heard, and valued.
In this episode, you'll learn:
• What recent research reveals about family dinners in America • Why being physically present isn't always the same as being emotionally available • How screens and divided attention are changing family conversations • Simple questions that help children open up naturally • Practical ways to make your dinner table a place where relationships grow
Strong families don't happen by chance. They're formed through intentional leadership, one ordinary meal at a time.
