Work hard, but get out there and play!

Sure, you work hard, but you’d like to play even harder.  Given a choice to get a raise or more time off, what would you choose?  If you’re like nearly half of employees, you’d take the vacay.  Most of us think that paid vacation time is a basic employee right.  If a company’s paid time off is felt to be inferior to other companies, then job dissatisfaction sets in and that’s a huge problem.  Employees are frequently asked to work during their vacations, resulting in the need for policies about boundaries between personal and business lives.  When companies can’t afford raises, most employees are happy to have extra paid vacation time which leads to improved morale, less employee loss and building positive perceptions of their workplace.  If you can’t have more money, you can have more time which are two of the most valuable commodities to adults.  Going to the beach is cheap!
