Lose fat in your tongue to avoid sleep apnea

Is a fat tongue related to sleep apnea?  Yes, it could be causing snoring, choking, gasping or having periods when you stop breathing during the night.  Obesity is a major cause of sleep apnea.  People with the obstructive form of apnea had considerably larger tongues with higher levels of fat than obese people without apnea.  Yes, the tongue is a muscle, but it’s also marbled with fat.  You can trim down your tongue if you lose body fat and the more you lose, the less symptoms you’ll have.  Apnea not only impacts your sleep, but it damages your brain, can increase your blood pressure, cause depression and increase your risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes.  30 million Americans suffer from it.  Accidents, health care and the loss of productivity costs nearly $150 billion a year.  Sleep better by losing weight.
