Pot and high blood pressure
Yet another unintended consequence of smoking pot. Yes, it’s high blood pressure this time. Those who participated in a study and who also smoked pot, had a 300% greater risk of death from high-blood pressure-related illnesses. Yes, heart disease is one thing, but high blood pressure can also lead to kidney disease, heart failure and aneurysms which are those bulging areas of your blood vessels caused by the weakening of the walls. The risk of stroke is also increased. Yes, more bad news. The researchers were concerned that people in the study weren’t truthful about how much pot they actually smoked which means that the blood pressure problems could be even worse. It was recommended that if you smoke pot, you should be checking yourself with an at-home blood pressure cuff daily. Better safe than sorry!
