Cellphone radiation, called radio frequency radiation, because it’s generated by radio waves, is being recognized as a health hazard. Guidelines for using your device and staying healthy are now offered. When you sleep, keep the phone at least an arm’s length from your body. While it’s recommended that you don’t keep the cellphone in a pocket, for men, that’s just not practical as most don’t carry handbags at this time. It’s been a tough journey for Dr. Joel Moskowitz of UC Berkeley to get these guidelines released. In 2009, he sued to get the data about the health effects of cell phones which include low sperm count, brain cancer and tumors, headaches, impaired memory, sleep and hearing. He won the case in the spring of 2017, and now, the information is out. We likely won’t know the real health impact of cellphones for decades to come. For now, use your common sense.
