It’s tough to deal with new moms and their opinions
If Momma and Dad have a new baby and she has stronger opinions about parenting practices than he does, there will be skirmishes. Mommas usually have stronger views than Dads on how their babies should be tended to, and this difference makes Momma stressed. You know that axiom, “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”? These skirmishes lead to more stress and the quality of the co-parenting relationship takes a dive. The primary issue seems to be nighttime care. Since Mommas are much more active in caring for baby at night, they feel unsupported if Dad disagrees about responding when baby whimpers. Momma and Dad, come to an agreement in the rational light of day instead of having running battles in the middle of the night. You can disagree on the concept but agree on the course of action. The bottom line is that it’s very early days and you need to have a plan to solve parenting disagreements.
