Topic - Why having an hour earlier in the morning is good for you

Hate it when Daylight Saving Time ends and you have to roll your clocks back an hour?  Think that extra hour of morning daylight isn’t going to help you? Well, you’re wrong.  When sunlight hits your eyes in the morning, it sets off the cortisol awakening response which jumpstarts your day.  Your brain is turned on for the next 6 hours and that’s the best time to get your thinking done. Big projects on the calendar?  Get ‘em done between 6 a.m. and noon. During these magic 6 hours, your brain is better able to learn and function. We’re designed to respond to light with activity and to darkness with sleep.  Because winter can be so gloomy, we need this shot of cortisol to get us up and going. If you’re one of those folks who complains bitterly about the time change, you’re likely to be the one to benefit the most from the early morning sun.  Throw open the shades and drink in the light!
