Parenting has been called "the greatest single preserve of the amateur." It is a daunting responsibility sometimes, and children don't come with an instruction manual. But, in writing the book of Proverbs, King Solomon had a clear and simple goal for his children: To help them grow in wisdom. Proverbs is filled with wisdom-based advice on how to move immature (and even foolish) young people toward a life of God-honoring "skillful living." Applying this advice in our modern context also takes some skill and insight. But with wise advice, and in the power of the Spirit, it's possible.
