  • What Do You Want to Keep, Change, and Create in Your Parenting?

We don’t come into parenting with a blank slate. We bring our childhood experiences, culture, beliefs, and values into the way we raise our children.

In this episode of Parenting with Purpose and Grace, I reflect on growing up in a Mexican family, the values I cherish, and the difficult experiences that shaped my decision to parent differently. I share how conversations with my husband before becoming parents became the foundation for our family vision—and how that vision continues to guide us today.

Breaking generational patterns can include honoring the good we received while choosing what we want to change. We explore becoming aware of familiar reactions, modeling the skills we want our children to learn, and giving ourselves grace when we need to repair and try again.

As you reflect on your own story, consider these three questions:

    • What do you want to keep? What values, traditions, beliefs, or experiences from your childhood do you want your children to have?

    • What do you want to change? Are there patterns you don’t want to continue in your own family?

    • What do you want to create? What do you want your family to have that you may not have experienced growing up?

Awareness is where change begins. You can appreciate where you came from while making intentional choices about where your family is going.

  • From Therapist to Mother: The Story Behind The Family Lab

What happens when the therapist becomes the one who needs support?

In this first episode, I’m sharing the personal story behind The Family Lab and how my own journey into motherhood changed the way I understood parents, families, and the importance of support.

I’ll take you back to my transition into motherhood—from fertility struggles and pregnancy loss to a traumatic birth, postpartum depression and anxiety, and the unexpected moment while watching Grey’s Anatomy when I realized I needed to reach out for help.

Even with my background as a Marriage and Family Therapist, motherhood challenged me in ways my professional training couldn’t fully prepare me for. Today, I bring that professional experience, along with my personal experience as a mom, into my work as a parent coach. Through The Family Lab, my focus is on supporting parents as they navigate the everyday challenges of raising their children with more connection and intention.

In this episode, you’ll get to know me beyond my professional background as a wife, a mom, a therapist, and a parent coach, but also as a woman who has needed support herself.

This is the story behind why I believe parents deserve a space to learn, grow, ask questions, and receive support without judgment.
