From one parent to another, let me give you a helpful tip. When you tell your teen to be honest you should be prepared to do the same!
Now, I’m probably makin’ you nervous on this topic. But think about it. As a mom or dad, we want to shield our kids from painful information. But it’s probably counter-productive.
I’m not advocating the over-exposure of your child before they can handle it. But it’s important to speak to your teen like a grown up. Tell him the truth, even when it’s hard. Someday he’ll need to know how to handle difficult issues. Why not start now when he’s home and can process alongside you?
Tell the truth. It’s a good idea for teens. And it’s a good idea for you!
