Welcome to a fiery episode of The Stop Parenting & Start Coaching Podcast where we encourage you, ourselves, and all Parental Units on earth to toss those ever so destructive Blamethrowers into the trash heap!
We're not gonna lie--today's subject makes us squirm a little and may make you a bit uncomfy as well! That's why it's soooooo necessary and so important for each of us to address head on. We aim to help you avoid being "trapped in blame!"
So, here's our path today. We will build on the "Figure it out and get better" & The Expectancy Test concepts from Episode 37 "So, You're Saying There's a Chance" by discussing the destructive nature of casting blame! Here are a few questions we encourage you to entertain:
--How do we deal effectively with uncontrollable situations (that are true) where mistakes are inevitable?!
--Where is a better place for my focus?
--What is the best perspective to help me avoid picking up The Blamethrower?
--How do you really want to show up for your kids before, during, and after their performances?
And, that's not all!
We finish up with some gems on how to deal with friends, other parents, or even your spouse who play the blame game! If you "figure this out and get better" you'll be modeling a great life skill to your teen athlete and performer! WIN-WIN, baby!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We LOVE feedback and/or questions! Send us yours to [email protected]. We'd be honored to discuss your "parenting your athlete/performer question/crisis/issue" on an upcoming episode. We drop new ones every MONDAY!
Moms/Dads--you are doing better than you think and your teen athlete or performer is counting on you. Have a great week of parenting, uh we mean, coaching!! -Nate & Steve
