The Klei Yakar, Rabbeinu Shlomo Ephraim, asks a very powerful question. The Torah tells us that "the tzitz shall remain on Ahron's forehead, and he will thus carry the avon hakodoshim -- the sin of sacrifices brought when one is not in the proper state of purity" (Exodus 28:38). Why then would the Talmud offer a different interpretation a new atonement – for brazeness- one that is not mentioned in the Torah at all?
