Listen Later

In this first part of this two-part episode focused on the expansion of the United States under the Articles of Confederation, we consider both the Ordinance of 1785 and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, as well as the various perspectives surrounding those two precedents of our country.

We also consider the insights brought by historians Allen Greer, and Gordon S. Wood, as well as contemplate some thoughts from the famous work by Max Weber, "The Protestant Ethic, and the Spirit of Capitalism".
