John moved to China in 2005 and became the Official MC and part of the management team at Shanghai's iconic Bar Rouge. In 2006, he launched Johnjamsession, a live music concept that became a key part of Shanghai's music scene and later partnered with the French Consulate's La Fête de la Musique. Beyond music, John managed Anar restaurant and co-founded Karma cocktail bar.
