In scriptures it’s clear God’s intentions have not got to do with self love or even believing in one’s self but rather on His love for us which we are to receive.
This week I was listening to a sermon titled What God cannot change about you ( link to sermon 👇🏾) by Rev. Chris Segun Onayinka and he said something that caught me to the heart, he said God did not ask us to believe in ourselves instead many times Jesus said to believe in God and him.
~~~~~
John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
~~~~~~
Self love has got a lot to do with trusting in our own self and bringing us in a place of selfishness and self-centeredness, while on the other hand receiving God’s love for us and giving it out to those around us brings us genuine peace and liberty.

John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
~~~~
1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
For it is in prayer that selfishness and self centered ness are brought under the authority of Christ because we do not trust in ourselves but in Jesus Christ and so we pray. Prayer helps us set our mind on God and not on ourselves. Ephesians 3:17-19, Romans 5:5
So dear friends believing in yourself and self-love is not scriptural but believing and trusting in God and his son Jesus who died and rose again to give us eternal life and receiving his love for you is all over the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
