The union (NEA) is an arm of the the Democratic party and is in cahoots with the Department of Education.
Thomas Jefferson believed in locally controlled schools with parents taking an integral role. He feared that government control would lead to poor management and lack of funding. In 1976, the NEA endorsed a presidential candidate for the first time, Jimmy Carter. Carter agreed to fund the Department of Education as part of the deal, and thus, our educational system was federalized, totally contradicting the will of our founders.
