Kylie Moore-Gilbert spent 804 days in an Iranian jail. The then 31-year-old University of Melbourne academic travelled to Iran for a conference, was arrested at the airport, charged with espionage and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

After over 2 years inside the jail - and long and delicate negotiations between Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and the Australian government - she was eventually released in 2020. 

In this episode of Under The Gloss - the first of two episodes - Kylie delves into the depths of the interrogation and mind games at the hands of the guards, as well as the glimmers of hope that kept her going. Her story is one of resilience and survival.
