Rachel Wolfson sat down with Charles Hoskinson and Fred Gregaard of Input Output Global and The Cardano Foundation to discuss the meaning of participatory governance in Web3. This episode was filmed during a fireside chat that took place at Rare Evo in August of 2023. 

This week's guest:

Charles Hoskinson is the chief executive officer and founder of Input Output Group. He is a Colorado-based technology entrepreneur and mathematician. Charles attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Boulder to study analytic number theory before moving into cryptography through industry exposure.

His professional experience includes founding three cryptocurrency-related start-ups – Invictus Innovations, Ethereum and IOHK – and he has held a variety of posts in both the public and private sectors. He was the founding chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation’s education committee and established the Cryptocurrency Research Group in 2013.

His current projects focus on educating people about cryptocurrency, being an evangelist for decentralization and making cryptographic tools easier to use for the mainstream. This includes leading the research, design and development of Cardano, a third-generation cryptocurrency that launched in September 2017.

Frederik Gregaard is the chief executive officer of the Cardano Foundation. Cardano is an open platform that seeks to provide economic identity to the billions who lack it by providing decentralized applications to manage identity, value and governance.

Frederik has more than a decade experience in Banking, Wealth Management & Asset Management. He is a certified currency trader and digital asset management expert. He advises Regulators, Banks and Asset Managers on how digital business models will impact their sector and how technology such as Blockchain, DLT, Big Data and AI will affect their businesses in the short and medium term.
