As part of my October of re-broadcasting some of my favorite episodes that are related to wedding stuff since I’m currently on my honeymoon in Botswana, this chat with my acupuncturist, James Rohr absolutely HAD to be the first chat to re-air, because getting his needles in my meridians were a significant part of my surviving the cray cray wedding process! James’ needles are my first destination when I need to boost my immunity, up my digestion game, alleviate anxiety or even, as you’ll hear, just pump my brakes and take a nap. I usually get some ‘puncture about once a month for general maintenance purposes, but in the last few months leading up to the wedding, I became an every other weeker, and then in the final month, an every weeker!! Not only do I have deep respect and admiration for his work and just acupunct as a whole, but as you’ll surely notice, James totally breaks the mold of what you might think of as a Chinese medicine healer. He’s a freaking funny dude! Half the time I’m with him I’m cracking up on his table, nervous that I’m gonna pop some needles out of me. I’m fortunate, well, we’re fortunate that James, who runs an acupuncture practice here in Brooklyn but also another one in Miami and used to be the head acupuncturist at Canyon Ranch Miami Beach, gave us so much wisdom, time and concrete reasoning behind this totally magical-woowoo-WTF-seeming healing modality that is acupuncture.
