Passion - Brent Phillips – Encounter Houston

Mark 12:30 "love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy."

When someone is passionate about something you don’t have to ask what their passion is because their actions show that passion. Where is our passion for the God that we serve? Have we forgotten what He has done for us? Do we love the lord with all of our passion, intelligence and energy?

Jeremiah 20:9 "But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in his name,
his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones!
I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!"

When you have a passion it can’t be hidden, you couldn’t try to hide it even if you tried because it is apart of who you are. True passion has to be expressed. We are built and created to be passionate and expressive.

1 Peter 2:2-3 "Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness."

We can’t just endure His word but we must crave it!

Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."

Do we truly hunger and thirst for His presence or can we go days or maybe even months with out tasting. We can’t expect to be satisfied if we aren’t willing to eat or drink His word.

When we come to Him with expectancy, passion, and excitement we are coming to Him with faith.

The quality of his word is life changing! What are we doing with his word? Our passion for his word has everything do with our excitement and expectation in his word. We need to allow the passion inside of us overflow into a response to God.
