Today is a unique day in the calendar of the Church because we recall the beheading of John the Baptist. As Tradition informs us, today is that day in which King Herod because of a promise had St John the Baptist beheaded. It is a day that reminds us that we must face our own sufferings in this life bravely and to be witnesses to a fallen world even when it can cost us our lives.
